It's no accident that DLC has grown tremendously since its inception in June 0f 2001. Our firm was unquestionably engineered for growth. It’s also no accident that DLC is unique and unlike other consulting firms. Our firm was purposefully
architected to look and operate like no other.
When we started our practice in June of 2001, we aspired to create a firm that delivered superior value to our clients and a superior experience to our consultants. David Lewis, our founder and former CEO, recognized that traditional consulting models often focused more on thought leadership rather than delivering tangible value to the client, and very often, those firms under-delivered on their promise to their consultants. Similarly, firms that focused on the consultant experience often fell short on their commitment to delivering value to the client. DLC has proven that a firm can do both – creating tremendous value for clients and consultants.

Our goal is to greatly accelerate the acquisition of skill and experience for our consultants. Because we strongly believe that finance and accounting disciplines are largely industry agnostic, we deliberately and routinely introduce our consultants to a variety of functions, systems and industries. Many of today’s consultants with the broadest experience joined our firm having worked in just one industry. As a firm, we work diligently to provide our consultants with the broadest possible exposure because we recognize that our consultant’s development is a critical component of DLC’s success.
TRADITIONAL CONSULTING MODELS
Unlike DLC, consultants working in these firms are generally limited in exposure to a specific practice area or industry vertical. Additionally, the work these consultants do is often focused on high level recommendations or business cases, not on implementation and execution. As a result, consultants are afforded little opportunity to gain hands-on experience. More often than not, they can claim they advised the client but they can’t claim they did the work. DLC consultants do the work.
AFFILIATE MODELS
The market generally associates the affiliate model with temporary labor or staffing. To that end, firms operating on this model rarely get to participate in sophisticated projects and, as such, their contractors’ experience is limited.
